London Children's Ballet presents

Ballet in a Box
WHAT IS BALLET IN A BOX?LOGIN OR REGISTER

Ballet in a Box is the brand new initiative from London Children’s Ballet, created with the aim of expanding our outreach programme across the country and offering an even greater breadth of performance opportunities.

We want to make it possible for children everywhere to have an inspiring, challenging and exciting training and performance opportunity local to them, not limited by where they live. And more than just a performance opportunity, this is a chance for them to interact with their community and share their love of dance with some of the most isolated people in society.

WHAT WE DO

London Children’s Ballet has been an active charity and performance company for 25 years.

We create and perform a beautiful annual production in the West End with an exceptionally talented all-child cast who are selected at open auditions and offered this training opportunity completely for free. We then have extensive outreach schemes bringing children and the elderly to two of our matinee performances and taking the ballet to those who physically would not be able to join us at the theatre at their care homes and SEN schools.

AVAILABLE PRODUCTIONS

The LCB productions are widely varied and include a wonderful selection of parts for dancers of many levels.

We have given many choreographers their first full-length commission and so our range of creatives is hugely exciting. You will need to be registered in order to access all resources for each production but you can find an overview of the creative products available to you via the links below.

THE CANTERVILLE GHOST

Oscar Wilde’s witty novella is adapted by David Fielding, with charming 1920s inspired choreography.

THE SECRET GARDEN

Based on the classic Frances Hodgson Burnett novel, Mary Lennox’s tale of growth and discovery is brought to life by Erico Montes in a beautiful 40min production.

Testimonials

Some thoughts from our touring dancers and those who we have visited with our productions…

The work you do matters so much. You are making such a difference to the lives of our pupils who have many difficulties. You brought a smile to the face of every child and adult, many of whom may not otherwise have access to music, live performance or dance without the outreach work you do. We are so grateful for your continued efforts in working with us. The performances and workshops are the highlight of our year and the memory of them last forever in the minds of many of our pupils and staff.
My pupils, many of whom because of their disabilities and backgrounds have never seen ballet (and may never again) loved every minute. We think the work you are doing is precious and we (literally) applaud your astonishing efforts. The dancers and leaders were so compassionate and generous with their interactions with the pupils and the whole event will last in our memories for so long.
Today I realised anyone can go on stage and perform to a pitch black auditorium. Performing to these people and seeing their faces was a greater challenge. I feel happy to have given some little enjoyment to such lovely people and a little sad that they will be left lonely waiting for us to come back next year, and that some won’t be there at all. As I left a little lady in sunglasses and a colourful scarf grabbed my hand: “Go out and do something special with your life and share your talent with others”. I feel like I’ve already started.
